Paper quilling Peacock wall frame

Hi friends,
Paper quilling is simple yet amazing technique which can take your imagination and creativity to a different level....recently I have seen a pic on pinterest that has inspired me a lot. Now to be frank I'm not a great expert in quilling. I just have a few silly experiments on my side with this fascinating art.
 Now without much discussion let me explain you and show you what i have achieved...I really hope it would be helpful to you.

For this project you will need

1) white or cream coloured 5mm quilling strips...(the colour is of your choice and the number of strips depends on the size of the project...I used around 20 strips)

2) Black chart paper cut into the size you would desire you project to be.

3) white colour pencil to draw a rough outline

4) fevicol or any craft glue

5) quilling tool.

6) scissors.


So now...let's get started !!!!

STEP 1

draw a rough outline with the white colour pencil on the black chart paper...the body and the feathers ...this gives you a rough idea of how many quilled scrolls you would need and also would make the sticking easier...once you are satisfied with the outline proceed further.

STEP 2

the quilling part isn't all that difficult. for the feathers i used a half of the quilling strip and quilled it and then pinched it to form a tear drop shape. That is with one quilling strip i made two tear drop shaped scrolls.

 For filling the body I made smaller scrolls...again the same tear dropped shaped scrolls but smaller ones. I used 1/4th strip for each one. That is with each strip I made 4 scrolls.

Once you have made sufficient number of scrolls just arrange them and see if it would fill your picture outline you had previously drawn.
  ....only after arranging did i realize that I had a lot more to do...!!!

once you are done...go ahead and tick them down firmly with any craft glue you have. Notice I'm sticking the tear shaped scrolls first and not the connecting links first.

STEP 3

Now let us do the neck of the peacock. For this I have used the beehive technique of paper quilling...this will take a while. Carefully stick the quilled strips in a line ...one line at a time

STEP 4

once you are done and after the strips you have stuck have dried sufficiently apply glue and run a strip along the border to give a body to the picture...

STEP 5

Now measure the lines in between the feathers one at a time cut it and stick it to the feather connecting one after the other...this is the most difficult part of the project...slowly patiently try doing it one at a time...

and that's it...your quilled peacock is ready...Frame it and its all ready to beautify your wall or you could also gift it someone special...

One stroke painting...Easy and simple way

Hi all...

     One stroke painting is a fun and easy way that i learnt  through my greatest tutor ( the INTERNET... :) )...

for those of you out there who are new to this term ...lets get started . This is a form of painting usually done with a flat brush,angled brush or a round brush too. I'm a beginner in this art so i am still experimenting with the flat brush yet.

          The basic point is we load the brush with two different colours at the same time and then play with it for fabulous designs.

Let's get started... 

You will need a flat brush and acrylic colors. The pictures below depict the procedure but since I didn't have the pictures of brush loading I have downloaded it from the net.

The first pictur shows the flat brush and the choice of two contrsting colours.As in one stroke the beauty is enhanced by the contrasting colours itself.

 Now load the brush with two colours , one on each side as shown...(the colour of paints vary ...sorry for that)

Once you load the brush, stroke it back and forth as below so that the colours merge with each aother well. A well loaded brush will do half the job and is the critical part for the next steps.

Now let's see futher...the fun part begins.

lay your brush with with tip touching the surface, press it firm and turn it round....this makes your petal of a flower.

Practice is the key.Once you master it, go ahead and keep experimenting. many videos are available out there created by some really generous people for us to learn.

I will post some other step-wise pictures for making various designs out of this wonderful art of painting.

The same way...this is how a leaf can be painted. The first row showing one side of a leaf while the second row depicting how to do the second part of the leaf. Using these two strokes you can draw a full leaf, or a folded one, or a slightly curled leaf .

and the fun part is let your creativity go wild. For example I first did a flower in pink and then after it dried I overlapped it with a yellow flower giving it a different look.

THE PAPER COMPANION

Having a mind of creativity, a pinch of inquisitiveness and a thought to learn, do and experiment every new crafty stuff you come across while random googling or while searching the YouTube, what else can be your perfect inexpensive and handy raw material than a simple bundle of papers.
    This is what that has started my journey of my creative arts and crafts. Let it be a simple pencil sketch, crayon fun, charcoals, pastels or card making to paper quilling... The list can go on and on. Paper has always been the best companion in all the small and big projects I ever experimented.
   This place has been chosen by me to share the small little things I have learnt and experimented with paper Because sharing has always the been best part... :)

Some of my first attempts... Not very perfect... But did lead me to a thought of pursuing this lovely hobby more dedicatedly...:)

initially the leaves were not very perfect...then i tried it on a harder base to know whether the choice of paper was wrong or the consistency of the paint...

this time it was a lot better...anyways after more and more trials i finally understood the consistency of paint was a major factor .the final piece was quite impressive so I managed to hammer some hooks into it and....yaaayyy!!! my new keychain holder was ready.

The interest of gifting and making cards always continued. So i kept on searching on the net, pinterest was amajor source of inspiration for me...pinning re-pinning was all that i used to do initially when i found pinterest. It was so addictive.

This card was a special one ,incomplete though.I had made it for a friend who was ready to get her bundle of joy in a few months. Whatelse could i think of than to make a small card...my way of expressing happiness and good wishes for her...


And I kept myself busy finding more and more reasons to make those special cards for my special ones...well haven't found many pictures of the cards and some were too personal to share. But will surely keep you updated with the little experiments with paper and paints Ido. :)
